Giusseppe Restuarante Shreveport Dinner Service

Went out for my birthday and decided to try the dinner service. We had been here before for lunch and loved it. Dinner was not dis-appointing at all. It was a holiday weekend, so they were very slow for a Saturday night, which made it better for us though. They have a very solid wine list and a full bar. You have the choice of inside or outside seating. We sat inside due to the heat. It was still 98 degrees at 7:30pm. They have some of the best antipasti options I have ever seen on a menu. All of the cheeses are from Italy and the meats are very good quality. You can have the chef put one together or you can select your own. I picked mine this time. For the pasta course, I had proiscutto ravioli with a pork shoulder ragout. It was excellent. Diana had the best mushroom risotto I have ever tasted. Actually, it was the best risotto I have ever tasted. It was cooked perfectly. Main courses were Oso Buco and Chianti braised beef tips. Both were served over polenta. I have never tasted polenta so smooth in all my dining experiences. Normally there is a grainy texture to polenta; this one was as smooth as mash potatoes. We wrapped up the meal with some desert wine and a raspberry soufflé. Well done Chef. This meal ranks as the second best meal I have had here in Shreveport. I recommend this to anyone who wants a nice meal.

As a matter of fact, I will be back there on the 14th, they are having a chefs special menu dinner that night. 5 courses with wine pairings for $65 a person. If you are in the area, you should attend.

Guiseppe Resturante Shreveport LA

Had a beautiful lunch here. Can't wait to try dinner. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. The kitchen is an open design so that you may see the cooks working on your dish as well as other projects for the day. The food was excellent and the wine list was solid. The antipasto plate was to die for. Meat and cheeses from Italy. Awesome. Diana had the fish of the day. It was prepared very well and was a very good portion. The foods we got were excellent and the prices matched the service.

Do you have a place that makes your mouth water???

Post on here any place that makes your mouth water and why. Looking for the off the beaten path places or even the popular places. Let me know what they are.

Fulton Crab House Downtown Disney Orlando

A must if you want a night out as a couple or have a family that enjoys seafood. The menu has some land items on it, but they are well known for their seafood. Their wine list is also very extensive. They have wines from all over the world. The whites are very good. Lots of seafood friendly wines, also a lot of interesting beers. Tried a Belfast Bay Lobster Red Ale. Very nice tasting beer with the raw oysters and crab spread. Diana tried a surf and turf. Both were prepared to order and very good quality. The bernaise sauce was a little thick though. Would have wanted it a bit more creamy. I of course had the King crab claws. It is hard to do them poorly and they were cooked to the right doneness. We were not disappointed in the dining choice. The service was outstanding and the waiter even saw that I was a DVC member and gave us our discount without me asking.

Paris Bistro Epcot Center France

The service was unmistakable French. The wait staff had an air of snobbyness that comes from being French. Excellent service though and the food was divine. We ordered escargot and a tuna tartare that was very well prepared and seasoned. Diana had duck and Brittany and I had lamb. It was cooked to perfection. The lamb was served with ratatouille and cut table side into individual chops. The wine list was impressive. Lots of very nice wines, some of which you could get by the glass. All in all an excellent dining experience

Flying Fish Resturant Disney Boardwalk

As we travel to our favorite place on earth, we love to visit with the places that we used to dine. The Flying Fish is always one of those nice spots to come back to. The food as always was prepared so well. They have an open kitchen design so that you can watch the chefs prepare the meals. The wine list is very solid with wins by the glass, bottle or half caraf. This is an excellent way to try wines especially if you and your partner drink different types of wines. The lobster bisque was so creamy and full of lobster meat. The tuna tartar was prepared very well. Diana had the potato wrapped snapper and I had the lamb chops. Both prepared to perfection. The only complaint I would have was with the service. Tim our waiter was a little slow to react to us and our food was slow in getting to the table. When I got my bill and it had forced gratuity on it,(we had 6 in our party) that explained some of the service issue. I am not a fan of this program. It allows people to slip on service and if the management doesn't test it's servers. Tim needs to be tested again in my eyes.

Crazy Johnnie's, Metairie LA

Very nice hang out spot. With in walking distance of Lakeside Mall. The food is cajun influenced and the prices are great. Has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat out side and drank cold bear and had hot food. The wait staff was a little slow, but with their prices and solid food, you deal with that part. 3 of us ate and had 2 beers each for $45. The most expensive item on the menu is a $15.95 fillet. Most of the meals are around the $9.95 range. If you need a place to hang out and get a good meal. Would recommend as a place to stretch your dollar.

Impastato's Metairie, LA

A very nice Italian place, where the food is awesome and the ambiance is really cool. The owner Joe is right there to greet, seat and serve his guests with a wait staff that is well trained and very attentive. The food is very fresh with homemade pasta and great veal dishes as well as an exellent wine list. I would suggest a few more by the glass options for the wines. The dinning experience was awesome. Joe and his team made it a very memorable place to dine. A lot of sports history has also passed thru this resturant. The walls are covered with autographed photos and jerseys from athletes of all sports. Football seems to be the main passion though. Highly reccomend if in the area.

Newks Shreveport

Very good lunch spot in the area. Great sanwiches and salads. Priced right with huge portions. The Pizza's are also very good. If you go during lunch hours, give yourself a little extra time as they are always busy, but it is worth it. Thay also have a take out menu, so you can call ahead and take it with you.

Albasha Greek and Lebanese Resturant, Shreveport

Albasha is on Youree drive and has an excellent lunch special. I have tried a couple of greek places here in town and they have the best food. The Gyros and salads are awesome. The Hummis is to die for. Very well made dishes all the times I have been there. The service is excellent as well. Will have to try a dinner there sometime. I am sure they will live up to expectation there too.

2 Johns Bossier City

Dinner last night at 2 Johns resturant in Bossier City was not quite up to the hype. I was optomistic about the dinner as I read the reviews and found that the Executive Chef was from Superior (Our favorite so far here in town.) But I was dissapointed in the complete dining experience. We had some good stuff mixed in with some not so good stuff. The wait staff was very good, that was a highlight. The wine list was solid, it had a decent amount of wines served by the glass. Prices were in the range that you would expect from a high end resturant. The starters were Calamari and Quail BBQ. Clamari was done very well, not with a traditional marinara sauce, but had an Asian sauce instead. Very nice. The Quail BBQ was also nice. Quail served over some grits with a non traditional bbq sauce. It was put together well. We then had a crab and corn chowder and their chopped salad with balsalmic vinegerette. Not impressive at all. Chowder was bland and the vinegerette was overpowering. Main dishes were Beef Oscar (Chef Special) and a Ribeye with sauted mushrooms. The Beef Oscar had more problems with it than good parts. The potatoes were cold, the asparagus was raw and the shrimp was way over cooked. The fillet was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce had good flavour, but was so sparce on the plate. Would have wanted more with the dish, especially since everything on the plate gets billed seperately, including the hollandaise. The Ribeye was of a grade that you would find at any steakhouse in the city. With the prices, I would have expected a better grade of meat. We did try to wrap up our meal with a nice Berry Brulee. This did not turn out so good. There is one thing that will kill a brulee, which is not a very hard dessert to make, you never want to serve a brulee with the sugar burned on top. That will kill it fast and the taste lingers in your mouth. As you can tell, the experience was not what I had hoped. If you have money to throw away, then by all means try this spot out. If you dont, then keep your money handy and try something else.

Wine Country Bistro

Todays lunch spot was Wine Country Bistro on Line Ave. A cute little place that is overpriced for what you get. I by all means have no issue paying for a good meal, but I dont like spending a lot of money on average. This meal was just that average. It started with the bread. It was basic, cold and stale. I dont eat a lot of bread, but I do know good bread and bad. The soups were solid, probable the best part of the meal. Had a french onion and a roasted tomatoe. Great flavors in the tomatoe soup, nice little kick of spice on the pallet. Not too spicey, but enough to keep it interesting. French Onion soup was good, its hard to mess this up. Cheese was melted correctly and not too much bread in it. For our entree, we had Smoked Duck salad and Crispy Gulf Shrimp BLT. The duck was served cold on a bed of greens with a very nice light dressing. The duck had a smokey flavour that really overpowered the duck and the dish. If you didnt know it was duck, it could have been anything. The Shrimp BLT was a bit better, but still just average. It was a good symphony of flavour, but as you disected the dish, the shrimp was heavily breaded to make it look bigger than it was. The shining light of the visit to the bistro was the bar and the wine shop out back. Awesome...... A great selection of wines and cheeses. One nice side effect of my lunch was the 10% discount they gave me in the wine shop for having purchased a meal. I guess I got some of my money back. I wouldnt recommend the Wine Country Bistro for a meal, But I would reccomend it for a nice place to have a glass of wine and some cheese. Nice thing is, you can just stop by and pick some up for home....
